Locker Tails

I can't wait until I'm nine.
No more walking in a line.
Upstairs on the second floor,
Fifth grade, lockers and much more!
The big kids walk right on by.
They don't know or even spy.
From the lockers, the tails hang.
They're locked inside with a BANG!
What creatures live with the books,
Cuddled up within the nooks
Of backpacks and the jackets?
Do they eat their lunch packets?
I know a locker has no tail,
But what within does prevail?
To me, this riddle evades.
Guess I'll know in four more grades!

The Potato and the Tomato

Every Wednesday here at school

The teachers think it’s really cool

'Cause while the students get pizza and such

Teachers can have potatoes for lunch!

Well, on this one particular day

The Principal's potato made her say,

“Oh WOW, my potato is SUPERSIZE!

I think it could make a billion fries!”

“I’d really rather have a smaller one, please.”

She said to the Cafeteria Lady with unease.

“But we need to get a picture you know

And put it on our Morning Show.”

“I’ll write a poem to go with clip!”

Said The Vice Principal as he tapped his lip.

“This spud is GINORMOUS! How can we show?”

So we posed it with a little tomato.

The potato and tomato remind us this way

How thankful we all should be every day

For food and fun at a place so cool

Here at our Catholic school.

And, by the way, who ate it? You want to know?

That GINOUMOUS potato the size of Idaho?

It was The Third Grade Teacher who said, “I’ll give it a try!”

And there was nothing left but skins and a gleam in her eye!
